The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that the School Health Advisory Council is set to recommend Tuesday that the school board move to ban the sale of unhealthy foods at school fundraisers. The policy would govern sales at concession stands for athletic events.

 

Broughton High School booster club president Greg Weaver says his ability to raise money is being restricted. He said no one will buy celery sticks to watch a soccer game.

 

A previous council recommendation led to a policy which requires athletic events, dances and other on-campus events outside the school day to offer two or more healthy foods and/or beverages.
